The following position is available:

TITLE OF POSITION: Project Director

REQUIREMENTS:    Bachelor’s (or equivalent foreign degree) in Business Administration, Business Communications or closely related field, and five years of relevant experience

(Master’s and three years of relevant experience may also be acceptable).

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Experience with assessment nonprofit or similar organizations serving people with physical disabilities including nonprofit management experience; and knowledge of assistive technologies including wheelchairs.

DUTIES: Oversee management of project activities, including consistent delivery of quality training, technical assistance and services for women with disabilities in the U.S. and developing countries, in an appropriate and sustainable manner.  Provide leadership and direction related to project development and training on wheelchair and assistive technology-related topics, independent living, empowerment, education opportunities, and other topics for women with disabilities; lead implementation of plans that impact both the project and the communities served; develop and oversee implementation of new programs and policies.  With the advisory board, develop long- and short-term strategies and goals for the organization; develop annual and quarterly budgets, and approve expenditures.  Develop strategic partnerships with other community organizations in the U.S. and abroad, donors and the fiscal sponsor (Tides Center).  Communicate regularly with the advisory board regarding grants and funding, with emphasis on developing new funding sources.  Recruit, facilitate training, and coordinate volunteers as needed.  Some travel may be required.
